You might disagree with me here but, you're wrong.

Kinja'd!!!

Hey, Oppo!

So I've been scrolling through our community posts and I've noticed quite a few 'euro-style' license plates on the cars, let me just say that I absolutely hate this.

I've lived in Europe for about a year and a half now. The first car I bought when I got out here was a 1998 e46 318i, it was fucking awful (but this is a different story entirely). In Europe we are required to have both a front and back license plate, I know that some states require this as well so you might understand where I am coming from.

Kinja'd!!!

Above you will see a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST as it should be, below you will see my 2014 Ford Fiesta ST. Spot the difference.

Kinja'd!!!

If you couldn't catch it, it's the motherfuckin' grill, yo!

All cars look better when they are un-obstructed by some kind of bullshit.

Please, Oppo, do not use fake plates. You aren't fooling anyone, no one thinks your car is from Europe, and your golf really isn't any cooler..

That's all, I love you, Oppo.

EDIT: The front plate is also how they tag us for speeding here, there are cameras that grab a picture of you while you are blasting down the (restricted) autobahn and it fuckin' sucks, 15 euro per ticket at a minimum.

Seeing cars without a front plate always reminds me of seeing an old person without their dentures in.

I have a euro style plate with my Golf, fuck you.

In all seriousness though, I've always lived in places where front plates are required (Netherlands and Ontario) so it's never been an issue for me. If anything, cars look odd to me without one, especially when the bumper has been moulded to fit one.

Also, my euro plate thing was $7 at the dealer, it's neat so I bought it. It hasn't been and likely never will be mounted on my car though.

If you're going to do it, make sure the country of the plate matches the country of origin of the car. Don't put a German plate on your fucking Honda Odyssey.

To me, the cars I've owned/family-owned look messed up with a front plate, e46 BMWs, Fiesta ST, Subaru Crosstrek XV (FUUUUCK THAT CAR), and an older Audi A6. The front plate looks wrong, I come from a land that requires such a plate (New Jersey) but it still looks fucked up no matter where I go.

Yep, New Jersey required it too. I have yet to be able to escape this mundane restriction.

I wish NY didn't make us do it. Our Subaru looks stupid with a front plate.

Spot the difference (no, not just that they're different models) between these two Fiestas. Hint: One of them wouldn't normally be wearing German plates.

My car came from one of these shitty states and therfore has holes in the bumper now. I use a euro plate to cover the holes. Filling and repainting the bumper is NOT and option. If you've ever had a resprayed bumper you would know they chip 20x easier than the factory paint. Mind your business and go put your illest sticker on.

My Ford truck had a front plate bracket that I hated the looks of. One night I hit an Antelope Jackrabbit on the road. (yes there is such a thing http://thewebsiteofeverything.com/animals/mammal… ) It completely tore the thing off the front of the truck. His passing made me quite happy though.

California requires front plate but it is not enforced very often... I've driven for years without one, and never had problems.

I grew up in California and I did the same thing. Never got pulled over for not having a mounted front plate. Alaska has the same requirement but my truck still doesn't have the front plate on it.

I moved my plate down on my US Fiesta.

After. I put the plate directly onto the plastic. I don't have an after with the plate moved. I do like european plates better overall. Ideally I'd like to have this (or nothing):

It's crazy about a month ago I saw a Euro plate on a 2010 Gen Honda Accord and I started laughing and pointed it out to my friend who got pretty much irate that someone would be stupid enough to do that.

I hate front plates as much as the next person but as far as Euro plates, it can be tastefully done. Oppo user Heliochrome85 he has a Euro Delivery 328i M sport and the front plate is the original Euro plate put on at the factory:

They seem to be ok with having the plate displayed on the dash. Could be worse though, we at least have a good looking plate.

In my defence, it is a "German" plate, and it says MX meaning that the car was actually built in Mexico.

Great if the states had private plate manufacturers like in the UK or at least more options like Australia & New Zealand. At least get rid of the 6x12" requirement.
